3 October 2018
The high expectations are completely fulfilled during the 15th edition of the Dutch Sport Horse Sales. The international interest for the collection turned out to be unprecedented and for a record breaking price of € 450,000, the outstanding Immanuel R will move to the stable of the Gulliksen family. Twelve out of 23 horses raised a price of over € 100,000.
It was an evening full of highlights. The phenomenal Stal Hendrix competition winner Immanuel R (by Echo van ‘t Spieveld) was one of the favorites and after a long and exciting bidding duel, Norwegian business man Bjørn Rune Gjelsten turned out to be the new owner. Johan-Sebastian Gulliksen is the intended new rider of this excellent five-year-old KWPN gelding. Also for the equally old Iguest W (by Carambole) there was serious interest and for him auctioneer Koen Olaerts dropped the hammer at a price of € 270,000, with which he is sold to a client of the BWG Stables. The seven-year-old Cantos offspring had also made a lot of fans and is sold for € 195,000 to California. “We are pleased to have welcomed a lot of new customers at our auction this year. Besides many international riders that are currently successful with horses that were purchased at this auction, and wanted to invest again”, concludes Paul Hendrix.
International buyers
More than 90 percent of the horses is purchased by clients from abroad every year and that was no different this year. Buyers from countries as the United States, Great Britain, Australia, Turkey and Scandinavia have bought young talents at this excellent auction. They ensured that an average price of over € 118,000 could be realized. “It is great to see that our formula works. Half of the horses come out of our own breeding and rearing program, and we have scouted the other horses ourselves. We already suspected that it would be quite a job to get together such a high quality collection again next year, and after tonight we are sure of that”, laughs Hendrix. “We have selected horses with very good jumping qualities and rideability, and it are all horses with great potential. A horse like Immanuel R comes by only a few times in your life and we expect him to develop into an excellent ambassador for our auction. We wish all the new owners best of luck with their promising DSHS horses!” At the end of the evening, a wonderful cheque of € 22,500, five percent of the auction topper’s proceeds, could be handed over to the Interplast Holland foundation.
